FAMILY ENGAGEMENT

St. John’s School community recognises the value of engaging families in their child’s education. We are informed by Horizons of Hope and aim to “build a culture of learning together through collaboration, partnerships and life-giving relationships which enable all to flourish”.

We recognise that engagement in a child’s learning doesn’t just take place within the four walls of the school but around the family dinner table, the walk home from school, the bedtime chats. Staff nurture these connections through sharing ‘snapshots of the day’ in real time through Seesaw. Relationships are strengthened through school community events such as our welcome celebration, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Grandparents day. It is through the nurturing of the relationships an insight into the passions and interests within our community are discovered. This allows for authentic opportunities for family engagement in the learning of our whole school throughlines.

Learning Walks are also offered for community members to witness and enter into dialogue and discussion around the learning and teaching within our school.

In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge the Wurundjeri and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work, learn and play.

We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
